Housing Choice Voucher Program

COVID-19 Operational Changes

To help protect citizens and employees from exposure to COVID-19, physical access to city facilities has been restricted or prohibited to the public until further notice. This includes the Housing Choice Voucher Program Office. If you need assistance please contact us by telephone at 940.761.7454
Watch out for scams! Reportedly, there are internet sites claiming to be application sites for voucher assistance. These websites are taking fees and personal information from people and claiming to put them on waiting lists. These websites are bogus! The only way you can apply for voucher assistance is directly though a local housing authority.

The City of Wichita Falls Housing Choice Voucher Program (formerly Section 8) has programs for low-income households to help them pay their rent. A portion of the rent is paid directly to the landlord on behalf of the families.

How to Qualify

In order to qualify for our program you must place your name on our waiting list and meet HUD income eligibility requirements. The wait may be up to 24 months, depending on our funding levels.
