The Best Thing About Being Over 50, is Being able to Join the ZONE!!
The 50 + Zone is a recreational facility operated and programmed by the W. F. Parks & Recreation Department for the use and enjoyment of people 50 & over.  The Zone is located on the 2nd floor of the W.F. Recreation Center on the corner of 10th & Indiana.  Being able to join the Zone is the best thing about being 50 years old or better!  At only $20 a year, a Zone membership offers so many opportunities for activity and FUN!!  Membership is available to all citizens aged 50 & over.  First time visitors are welcome to tour and use the facility one time at no charge.

Texas Hold'em

Join us every Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 for a fun game of poker on our beautifully appointed poker tables.  We play all of our games with chips and no exchange of money.  There are several levels of play, from beginning to advanced.  Prizes awarded each quarter to the "Leaders of the Pack."

Exercise Programs

To help you fulfill your resolution of getting healthier, the Zone has a fully appointed exercise/workout room.  We have a great variety of exercise programs and equipment to interest every fitness level.  Some classes are instructor led and others are video programs.  Our exercise room and equipment will provide you with an intense (or not so intense) workout. 

Movies on the Big Screen

The Zone shows 3 first rate, new movies on our big screen every week.  Our movie room features a top of the line Dolby surround sound system, comfortable environment, and free refreshments.

Pool Tournaments

Men's and women's pool tournaments are held quarterly.  Pre-registration is 30 minutes prior to the first break.  Consult the monthly 50+Zone newsletter for dates and times.
 

Computer Classes

Have you ever wanted to learn to send and receive e-mail?  Want to keep in touch with relatives and friends without using “snail mail”?  Well, we have three outstanding classes to help you learn.  Classes are on Wednesdays at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 pm.  Fridays at 9:00 am and by appointment only Thursdays at 10:30 am and 6:30 p.m.  The classes are geared towards beginners and books are available as loaners for a small deposit. The Zone has Wi-Fi on 6 computers with internet access.

BINGO At The Zone
Come on in to the Zone on Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. and Fridays at 2:00 p.m. for some good ol'fashioned BINGO play.  Cards and daubers are available for sale.  FREE Mystery Prize BINGO Friday mornings at 9:00 a.m.  Fun for all members.  
  

Dances

If dancing is your thing, there are dances every day at the Zone.  Dance to live performers at the Jam session on Mondays at 1:00 p.m. and Thursdays at 4:00 p.m.  Afternoon dances are held every Wednesday from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m.  Round Dancing (choregraphed Ballroom Dancing) Wednesdays at 6:00 pm.  If line dancing is more your style, stop by on Tuesdays from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. or Thursday evenings starting at 6:30 p.m. to join the fun!!  There is a dance every Friday evening with a live band.

Special Events
Every month we offer at least one special event to interest everyone.  These events change dramatically each month and past ones include camping trips, Flea Markets, Luau's, Indoor Carnivals, Health Fairs, Shopping Trips, Casino Nights, Costume Parties and many, many other programs.  Keep your eyes on our monthly newsletter to find out what is happening this month.

Weekly Live Band Dances
The 50 + Zone has "THE LONESTAR TROUBADOURS" performing LIVE every Friday starting at 7:00 p.m. Come and dance to one of the best Country and Western Swing Dance Bands in the area.  These dances are held in our ballroom in a smoke and alcohol free environment and are recommended for ages 50 and over but no younger than 35.  Free refreshments are available.  The public is invited.
