Fighting Aces Community Empowerment Summit (FACES)
Thursday, October 4, 2018
Over 40 area organizations and agencies make up the Early Childhood Coalition of Greater Wichita County. One goal is to educate the community about Adverse Childhood Experiences. The documentary "Resilience, The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope", shares the research of Dr. Vince Felitti and Dr. Roberta Anda. The research shows a connection between childhood toxic stress and adult physical and mental illness. Additionally, it shows how many communities have come together to address the crisis of Adverse Childhood Experiences. The Fighting ACEs Community Empowerment Summit (FACES) is a time for all aspects of the community come together to learn about and discuss how ACEs is affecting the community and what we can do to address this crisis. Guest leader, Laura Porter, an expert in helping leaders use Adverse Childhood Experience concepts to build self-healing communities will share her work in this field and lead a professional group discussion.
