Storm Water Management

Responsibilities

Storm Water Management plays an important role by monitoring storm drains for illegal discharges of pollutants that could make their way into public waterways. Storm Water Management is also responsible for working alongside citizens, contractors, and industry to ensure safe, effective drainage systems and clean, pollutant-free: creeks, rivers, and lakes.

Report It!

Report suspicious discharge, trash or debris in storm drains, illegal dumping down a storm drain, in a ditch, etc. by calling (940) 761-7670 Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and (940) 720-5000 on nights and weekends. 

Illegal pollutants include:

  • Grass clippings and yard waste
  • Lawn fertilizers
  • Paint, solvents, oil, and fuel
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Pet wastes
  • Pesticides

Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4)

The City of Wichita Falls Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit is required to discharge stormwater to surface water in the state from the City of Wichita Falls MS4. This permit requires that the City implement a Stormwater Management Program (SWMP) that describes Minimum Control Measures (MCMs) designed to decrease trash and illegal pollutants that come into our storm sewer system, and improve the quality of stormwater that comes out of it.
